IU has received more research funding in the past two years than all of the state's other four-year public universities combined.

IU's Commitment to Indiana's Future

Education

A life sciences economy will require many types of jobs, and IU is prepared to educate people for them. IU confers 67 percent of the state's human services and public administration degrees, 47 percent of education degrees, 43 percent of health and life sciences degrees, and 41 percent of communication and information technology degrees.

A bar chart that shows that IU confers 67 percent of the state's human services and public administration degrees, 47 percent of education degrees, 43 percent of health and life sciences degrees, and 41 percent of communication and information technology degrees

IU is also home to the Kelley School of Business and School of Informatics, the first school of its kind in the nation. These programs can help students expand their interests into marketable skills that can be plugged into Indiana's thriving life sciences economy.

IU also is reaching out to younger students through its Pathways to Success Initiative. IU will work to increase graduation rates and interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and start pilot programs in middle schools and high schools in Lake, Marion, and St. Joseph Counties.

With our partners from Purdue University, University of Notre Dame, and other higher education institutions throughout Indiana, we can move the state to the front ranks of national life sciences leadership.
